ARLEE — When October and November come around we begin seeing pumpkins for Halloween. This puts us in mind of Thanksgiving, which always leads to thoughts of Pumpkin Pie.  Pumpkin of the canned variety is actually available year round. It just taste better in the fall. Spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice were created especially to mix with pumpkin when the air grows brisk and red, yellow and gold leaves carpet the ground. Most of all, let’s turn our minds to thoughts of gratitude at our good fortune to live in The Last Best Place — Montana. We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Time is running out for making changes to Medicare health insurance and Medicare drug coverage; Dec. 7 is not that far away.  For help with changes in your Medicare drug coverage here’s good news: Samantha and Holly from Area VI Agency on Aging will be available at the Jocko Valley Library on Nov. 20 from 1-5 p.m. by appointment only. You may reach them for an appointment by calling 406-883-7284 or 1-800-266-4188.

Our center has a quilt raffle going on for a quilt donated to us by a lovely group of local quilters. Tickets are available at the center, or by contacting any Arlee Senior Center member. Tickets are $2 each or $5 for three tickets and seven tickets for $10. The pool table is also loaded with silent auction items. Stop by any Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. to see what is available: knick-knacks, dishes, a red and white quilt-in-a-bag, Christmas decorations, and many, many Christmas-gift ideas.
