Arlee CDC to hold annual meeting

ARLEE — The Arlee Community Development Corporation will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Hangin’ Art Gallery on Highway 93 in downtown Arlee. The Board will report on projects and activities and request input from members and the community on future plans and directions. The featured presentation will be on the progress of the construction of walking and bicycle trails in Arlee being developed by the all-volunteer Jocko Valley Trails Committee. The committee has been very successful at building trails along Highway 93 connecting outlying areas to the Arlee schools and downtown areas. This summer they constructed the first segment of trails along Jocko Road. You can renew your membership or join for the first time at the annual meeting or by visiting the website at: www.arleecdc.org. If you have questions, call 406-726-5550.

Christmas decoration donations needed

PABLO — Sylvia’s Store is requesting donations of Christmas decorations. Gently-used items needed include lights, tree ornaments, garlands, tree toppers, tree skirts — anything that will help make the large room at the Joe McDonald Center look festive for their annual two-day Christmas party for nearly 700 children whose families receive assistance from Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Department of Human Resources Development programs.

“We give out a gift and a little treat … and the kids get a picture with Santa,” DHRD Supportive Service Tech Sylvia Aimsback said. She realizes she’s preparing for Christmas quite early, but “we do it each year, and we have to make sure we have everything in place. It’s a big undertaking.”

Donations may be dropped off at the store, located next door to Property and Supply in the Tribal Complex across from the main building, or call Sylvia Aimsback at 406-675-2700, ext. 1232 and she can arrange for pickup.
