The Polson boys and girls golf teams opened their 2015 season with a busy week, traveling to three competitions in four days and showing steady improvement all the while.
On Aug. 17, the Pirates traveled to the Butte Central Invite held at
Highlands View Golf Course, where Mat Hobbs (77) and Kiyara McCue (95) each turned in a personal best score to boost their team to fourth place out of the field of 10 with a score of 325. McCue was fourth for the girls, and Hobbs finished seventh on the boys’ side. Carson McDaniel was eighth with 79, while Curtis Capdeville had 84 and Hogan Kelley 85. Alex Salois finished with 107.
Two days later in Whitefish, the Pirates totaled 354 to finish third out of eight teams. McDaniel stepped up for the boys, scoring a 78 for second place, while Hobbs had 88 for seventh place. Kelley finished with 90; Capdeville 98 and Salois with 106. For the Lady Pirates, McCue scored 112, while Emily Davis finished in 144.
Polson’s clubs heated up on Thursday Polson-Hamilton-Stevensville
Triangular at Seeley Swan’s Double Arrow Resort, with the boys and girls combining for a score of 362 to take second place behind Hamilton. McCue led the pack with 105 for second place on the girls’ side, while McDaniel tallied 85 for fifth place. Capdeville was close behind with 86; Hobbs had 92; Salois 99; and Kelley 102. Davis had 134 to round out the girls’ side.
After a trip to East Missoula on Monday and Missoula’s Larchmont on Tuesday, the Pirates will have a break from competition until Friday, Sept. 4, when they head to East Glacier.
