POLSON — Two pickups collided at the intersection of Eli Gap Road and Back Road about 9 a.m. on Aug. 17, causing major damage to one vehicle.
Jason Ries, Valley View, “rolled through” the stop sign at Eli Gap Road, and Tucker Hathaway crashed into him, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Shad Andersen. Hathaway was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, complaining of chest pain. Ries had scrapes and bruises.
Both drivers were cited for no insurance, and Ries received a ticket for running the stop sign.
It takes three seconds to legally stop at a stop sign, according to Trooper Andersen.
He said drivers usually look left and then look right and drive right through a stop sign. A driver should come to a complete stop and then look left and right before continuing.
