RONAN — This year’s Lake County Fair went smoothly and saw more than 1,000 entries, according to fair officials.
“The fair went extremely well,” Lake County 4-H Agent Nori Pearce said. “Everybody did an excellent job of getting everything completed. It was just an excellent fair.”
Fair Secretary Tammy Young said there were 1,068 4-H entries submitted with 285 Open Class entries.
Young said the most popular classes at the fair were shooting sports and photography.
People brought out their shotguns, bows, arrows, and rifles for the shooting events, with 131 entries.
“That particular project has grown substantially over the past few years,” Young said.
The second-most popular event, photography, had 92 entries.
“That one is always a popular one,” Young said.
Young said market animals are always a mainstay, but that she has seen an increase in breeding animals at the fair in her four years as secretary.
“Especially beef breeding seems to have more entries,” Young said.
Other events usually have only one or two entries, and some classes have none. Whatever the entry, Young said the fair always invites folks to try their hand in both the 4-H and open classes.
