POLSON — With warm temperatures and not much wind, it was a good day for a 1-mile swim for the annual Water Daze on Aug. 1. Times were fast for 83 swimmers who entered the water near Salish Point and swam to the point at Boettcher Park. All age groups were represented, from high school kids to senior citizens. Matt Seeley won the event with a time of 24 minutes and 32 seconds.
The whole Seeley family participated, with mom Tana, dad Matt, daughters Malia and Gwen participating in the 1-mile swim and younger daughter Isabel competing in the kid’s swim.
Another local family, the Windauers, also had several swimmers — dad Mike, brothers Nick and Jake and sister Nayeli.
“There were a couple of big swells because of a boat,” Tana said, “but the buoy line was good.”
The youngest competitor was 9-year-old Hannah Seeley and the oldest was Cheryl Ward, 71.
