POLSON — It will be impossible to be bored this weekend in Polson.

With a car show, a poker run, a poker walk, an art festival, a family fun day, a brunch cruise, water activities and music at local venues, the weekend of Aug. 7-9 will live up to its name — Summerfest.

Sponsored by Anderson Broadcasting, Summerfest draws a variety of classic and vintage vehicles for the car show.  Check-in for vehicles is Friday, Aug. 7, from noon -5 p.m. at Sacajawea Park. A poker run follows, with entrants receiving their first card when they sign in. Hands are $5. At 6 p.m. poker players can pick up the rest of their hand at Swanee’s Bar and Grill, Westland Seed Farm and Garden Ranch Center, Pierce Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Ronan, Les Schwab Tire Center, Murdochs Ranch and Home Supply, and end up at Finley Point Grill, where prizes will be awarded at 8 p.m. and the band “Gladys Friday” will play until midnight.

Saturday the cars and pickups will be displayed on the streets of downtown Polson. Special vehicles coming to the show include the Wounded Warrior truck, the National Mopar display, Dale Earnhart’s truck and special Ford and General Motors displays, plus surprises. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on Fourth Avenue and Main Street.

After a stroll through the vintage and custom cars, visitors can take part in a poker walk through Polson from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. or walk a block or two to the shady lawn at the Lake County Courthouse for the Sandpiper Outdoor Art Festival from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Artists will display and sell paintings, sculptures, pottery, woodworking, quilts, photographs and many other items. There are also food and drink vendors.

For children, Lake County Search and Rescue will host a fundraiser complete with bounce houses, water balloons, slip and slides, sponge relay races, pie throwing, a dunk tank, obstacle races and more. All this fun will be at the Kerr Dam soccer field.

At 7 p.m., the “Flood Band” will entertain at the MacKenzie River/Red Lion patio, compliments of the Mackenzie River Pub and Grill.

Guests in Polson can sleep-in Sunday morning and then take a brunch cruise on the Shadow, the KwaTaqNuk Resort’s lake cruiser, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Nathan Eyre will entertain participants by playing acoustic music. Car show contestants will receive a discounted price.

Afterwards the whole family can enjoy watercraft demonstrations, flyboard and paddleboard exhibitions, a dragonboat display and a boat parade.
