Reynolds Creek Fire
30 percent contained
News from the National Park Service
GLACIER NATIONAL PARK — As of Monday morning, the Reynolds Creek Fire in Glacier National Park was 30 percent contained, with more than 3,200 acres reported burned.
The fire, located approximately six miles east of Logan Pass, west of St. Mary Lake, and prompted evacuations of the area and some closures of park spaces last week. While parts of Going to the Sun Road remain closed, St. Mary Lake visitor center had reopened as of Monday morning.
More than 655 firefighters were battling the blaze, including seven interagency hotshot crews, eight 20-person hand crews and other personnel. Two engines and eight personnel from Ronan and Polson Volunteer Fire Departments left to help with the fire last week. Seven helicopters, 24 engines and other shared air resources are being used to fight the fire, which was first reported on July 21.
The fire had burned one cabin as of press time.
A press release issued Monday said recent rains have subdued the fire, but it still possesses potential for activity when drier weather conditions return.
