DICKINSON, N.D. — Jake Young recently joined the Dickinson State University Baseball team. Young is a native of Polson, where he wrestled and ran cross-country while attending Polson High School and played for the Mission Valley Mariners during the summer. After high school, Jake attended Dawson Community College in Glendive for two years. As a freshman, Young was named to the Mon-Dak All-Conference team as well as being named All-Region. As a sophomore, he was named Mon-Dak Player of the Year, All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American after batting .447 on the season. Young then transferred to NCAA D2 Coker College in South Carolina for his junior year.
"I chose to come to Dickinson State because of their great facilities and campus as well as it is close to home," said Young.
Young plans to finish his degree in Exercise Science and enjoys hiking and working out in his down time.
Jake is the son of Janet and David Young.
"I am very excited to have Jake join our program. I recruited him a year ago while he was at Dawson and I am glad we finally got him. He is a very good baseball player and will definitely help us in the infield as well as at the plate," said head Coach Jason Watson.
