Lady Vikings split against Superior, Philipsburg

CHARLO – For the second time this season, the Charlo Lady Vikings were handed a one-point loss from undefeated Superior. The loss was Charlo’s second of the season, as they improved to 13-2 overall after bouncing back to beat Philipsburg at home Feb. 4.
Against Superior, it was a tight game from the opening tip, with the Lady Bobcats going up 14-12 at the start of the second. By halftime, Superior built a 27-21 lead, holding Charlo to only nine points.
It was more of the same in the third, with Superior pulling away with a 12-8 run, but it wasn’t over just yet.
In the fourth, Charlo exploded offensively, putting up 19 points while holding Superior to 11, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bobcats edged Charlo a second time, winning 50-49.
Kinley Pope led Charlo with 17 points, while Deondra Brown put up 14. Rachel Hoyt scored eight.
On Saturday, Charlo took on Philipsburg during senior night, where the Lady Vikings pulled away early, winning 63-18.
By the break, Charlo led 36-12, and held the Lady Prospectors to only six second half points.
Hoyt led Charlo with 18 points, while Brown contributed 13 and Pope tacked on another 12.
Charlo wraps up its regular season on the road this week, playing Hot Springs Feb. 9 and Arlee Feb. 10.
