POLSON — Women on Target offers area women a chance to shoot different handguns, a rifle and even a shotgun, if they’re so inclined, under the instruction of 25 range safety officers and National Rifle Association members.
The event will be held on June 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Polson Shooters Association range on Kerr Dam Road.
Women who are new to a shooting range or shooting, or have questions about buying a gun, will have many experts on hand to explain and demonstrate, according to Tracy Plaiss, who’s coordinating Women on Target.
“Many women have no idea what to look for when they go to a gun store,” Plaiss said.
An instructor herself, Plaiss often goes shopping for guns with her clients.
Women on Target will offer the ladies who take the class information on different kinds of weapons, and the volunteer instructors each have years of experience.
“We’ll start with the etiquette of a shooting range, basic commands and safety,” Plaiss said.
The class will be on a first come, first served basis since class size is limited.
The first 25 women who call Plaiss at (406) 471-2333, register and submit their $20 class fee will be admitted to the class. Checks should be made payable to the Polson Shooters Association.
