I’ll get voting records for myself

Editor,
Rich Bell brought up a solid point in the letters section last week, about elected officials exposing how they vote. Individual voting records would be amazing to have as forthright pieces of the political dialogue, however, Rich is championing trickle down politics. Wait until a politician tells me how she or he voted? Um, no. Why would I wait if I cared to know, truly? Moreover, why would I believe an elected official’s claim on a vote? The Clinton effect substitutes for honesty all the time. ("I didn't have sexual 'relations' with that woman...”). The devil's in the verbal details. So, hmm. I guess I'm from the new school. I'll go get the voting records for myself, through Twitter feeds, or through a simple phone call to the legislator's office. I want transparency, just like Rich does, but I don't care about waiting for it to trickle down. Demanding transparency won't produce it. I'd rather participate than critique.
