CHARLO — A rainy start to the annual Kids Fishing Day at Ninepipe Pond didn’t dampen young anglers’ spirits, and the drizzly weather may even have helped the 118 youngsters who turned out to haul in 132 fish on Saturday. As parents baited hooks and supervised casting, organizer Jason McDonald weighed the catches, which came in anywhere from 10-year-old Tristan Felsman’s 10-gram perch to 4-year-old Ronald Dupuis’ 10-pound rainbow trout. Youngsters won prizes — new fishing rods and gear — for the biggest and smallest catches, and there were hot dogs for everyone. Belgrade resident Matt Cardwell brought his son Aidan, age 9, at McDonald’s recommendation, and it turned out to be a good call as Aidan hauled in plump rainbows left and right Saturday morning. “He’s having fun,” Matt smiled as Aidan struggled to hang onto a slippery 1-pounder that kept trying to return to the pond. 2015 Kids Fishing Day results 0-6 smallest fish Aylah Lindquist, age 2, 11g sunfish Quincy Jensen, age 3, 15g sunfish Jazmyn Werk, age 4, 15g sunfish 7-9 smallest fish Dusty Haynes, age 9, 11g sunfish Carter Curtiss, age 7, 13g perch Toni Hadley, age 9, 14g sunfish Cole Bigcrane, age 7, 14g sunfish 10-13 smallest fish Tristan Felsman, age 10, 10g perch Montana McElderry, age 10, 11g sunfish Hunter Linsbeigler, age 11, 14g sunfish 0-6 biggest fish Ronald Dupuis, age 4, 9.94-pound rainbow trout Jackson Curtiss, age 4, 3.15-pound rainbow trout Kaiah Dumont, age 3, 2.93-pound rainbow trout 7-9 biggest fish Aidan Cardwell, age 9, 8.68-pound rainbow trout Dante Baltz, age 8, 8.45-pound rainbow trout Taigen Lindquist, age 9, 3.53-pound rainbow trout 10-13 biggest fish Darwin Adams, age 12, .94-pound rainbow trout Tristan Felsman, age 10, .93-pound rainbow trout Hunter Linsbeigler, age 11, .72-pound rainbow trout
