POLSON — The Fourth of July is coming soon, and so is the annual fireworks display. The Marine Corps League Hellroaring Detachment 1041 raises money to fund the Roman candles, rockets and bursts.
The League spent Saturday on U.S. Highway 93 and Main Street in Polson collecting from passing motorists, but spokesperson Mauri Morin said they haven’t got a grand total yet. With $15,000 to raise, the group is asking for the community’s help.
People can drop money into firecracker containers located at businesses around Polson. Super 1 Foods will put fireworks money on a customer’s credit card, and then write the donor’s name on a paper firecracker posted on the wall.
Morin also said folks can write a check and mail it to the Polson Chamber of Commerce or to Fireworks Fund, P. O. Box 33, Polson.
Fireworks are more expensive this year, Morin said, but the Fourth of July show should be even better than last year.
“We want to make it bigger and better and continue to move (the show) up,” Morin added
