POLSON — Suicide crosses every boundary of age, race, gender, culture, and every social and religious affiliation. And it is an all too frequent cause of death in Lake County.
Roxana Colman-Herak, the lead Suicide Intervention Trainer for the Salish and Kootenai Tribes since 2007, will be the guest speaker at the Friday, May 8, meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. The meeting begins at noon at the Polson Rural Fire Department Building on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds in Polson.
She will be sharing warning signs of a potential suicide, and information on the stigma and secrecy surrounding suicide. The problem with suicide is that it is a permanent solution to a temporary situation, and too often the signs of suicide are missed, dismissed, or avoided.
Anyone wishing to learn more about this serious problem in the community is welcome to attend.
