DEER LODGE – The Maidens were on fire as they scooted through the week, logging victories across the board including wins against three top-rated Class A teams.
The Maidens started their week of fury posting a pair of wins against Deer Lodge’s Lady Wardens after putting the 10-run mercy rule in effect in both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
In game one of the day, Carston Rhine owned the rubber after striking out eight while only allowing three hits to pick up the 11-1 win for the Maidens.
Maiden Kiana Brown led at the dish going 2-3 with yardage after logging her first homerun of the season.
In game two against Deer Lodge, the Maidens one-upped their earlier accomplishment and shut out the Lady Wardens 10-0 in the nightcap game.
Brown and Kaitlyn Sassaman were both 2-3 at the plate with Sassaman landing on the middle bag twice with a duo of doubles while Rhine picked up another win from the circle also logging a perfect 2-2 with her bat.
Over the weekend, the Maidens competed at Frenchtown’s tourney where they would face a trio of class A strongholds — the top three teams on the Southwestern A conference ladder.
Not letting the step up in class intimidate them, the Maidens picked off their opponents one by one to come home with a season record of 12-2, including tourney play.
Against hard hitting Hamilton, after falling behind by one in the first inning, Ronan would rally back to score in four innings off of 20 hits while limiting Hamilton to cross home in only two of the seven innings played in the 14-6 triumph.
Rhine picked up the win for the Maidens while also plating 3-4 to match Gabby Wirz. Jordyn Clairmont led with her 4-5 effort.
Keeping their bats hot off the griddle against Anaconda, the Maidens posted 13 hits while Rhine threw a one-hitter to grab the 8-0 shutout victory.
Sassaman, Clairmont, Rhine and Kendra Starkel were all 3-4 with Sassaman adding a homerun and a pair of RBIs.
The Maidens posted a 3-2 win against Dillon, though no stats or information were reported.
Ronan will head to Troy for a doubleheader on Thursday.
