EUREKA — The Mission Valley Mariners trucked north last weekend for the Eureka Rendezvous, splitting tournament play by winning two of their four games.
In game one on Friday, the Mariners trounced the Kootenai Valley Rangers 14-2. Five Mariners — Derek Peel, TJ Olson, Warren Wood, Jacob Harrod and Nyqolas Gillingham had two runs batted in apiece, with TJ Olson going 2-3. Micah McClure connected with a double and Jacob Harrod had one stolen base. Pitcher Derek Peel took the win after McClure and Walter Wood relieved him in the five-inning game. McClure allowed the only hits in the game — resulting in the Ranger’s two runs in the third inning — and each Mariners’ pitcher struck out three. Wild pitching on the Rangers’ end tallied 10 walks and three Mariners taking bases from being hit by pitches.
No other games were reported.
