Shawn Ashcraft, Anna Lewing and playwright Neal Lewing appear in the Port Polson Players production of Shillelagh, a modern Irish comedy with music written by Neal Lewing. Half of the show features traditional Irish tunes; the other half are new songs written by Lewing, centering on an Irish story of romance and rebellion.
A shillelagh is a stick recognized as a symbol of Irishness, used for walking or as a weapon. “Montana has one of the highest numbers of Irish descendants in the U.S., so I feel this timely show will resonate with that rich history of our state,” says Lewing.
Shillelagh runs two weekends: May 8-10 and May 15-17. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, with 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays, at Polson’s beautiful Theatre on the Lake. Tickets are $15 for adults and $14 for students and senior citizens. Call (406) 883-9212 or go to PortPolsonPlayers.com for reservations or more information.
