County Job Service

POLSON — Lake County Job Service, located right in downtown Polson, has been serving the citizens of this area for more than 40 years. As part of the Montana Department of Labor and Industry’s statewide network of local offices, the Lake County Job Service ensures that a full scope of employment services and support is readily available to both job seekers and employers. 

When a customer walks through the door, the first thing he or she will see is the Resource Area. There are eight computers that are accessible to the public for job search activities, as well as filing for unemployment benefits. A printer, copier, fax, and phone is available for use, all at no charge. Trained staff is available to provide customized, personal assistance to customers. Job seekers can attend free workshops or obtain one-on-one assistance with cover letters, resumes, interviews, and job applications. Additionally, staff can provide a variety of career assessment and guidance options to help the job seeker in his search for the right job. Each local job service has access to a statewide database of job postings, and can assist job seekers in utilizing that system to find the jobs that best fit their skill set and goals. Lake County Job Service offers re-employment and training options through Federal grant programs for qualifying individuals.

Lake County Job Service also provides a wide variety of business services. Staff members possess a high level of expertise in crafting effective job postings and assisting businesses recruit the workforce they need. They can provide a broad range of information and resources to businesses regarding human rights, hiring and firing, employee handbooks, employment law, recruitment and retention, special hiring incentives, training programs, applications, interviewing, labor market information and more. Additionally, businesses may obtain mandatory 5-in-1 employment posters through the Job Service at no charge. 

The Job Service serves as a liaison to a variety of resources, including veteran’s employment services, information about tax incentives available for hiring specific types of employees, disability resources, registered apprenticeship programs, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and informational assistance and support when layoffs occur. Additionally, staff can provide information about other state agencies, and how to obtain services that may be needed. 

The Lake County Job Service is located at 417B Main Street in Polson. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Services may also be accessed by calling (406) 883-7880, or accessing the website: www.lakecountyjobs.mt.gov
