MOIESE — Red Sleep Mountain Drive on the National Bison Range in Moiese is set to open Saturday, May 9, for the summer season, weather permitting. The drive offers views of the Flathead River, Mission Mountains and Mission Valley, plus a variety of wildlife including bison, deer, antelope, bear and bighorn sheep — and this time of year, newborn critters. The front gate currently opens at 7 a.m. Starting May 9 the front gate will open at 6:30 a.m.; the gate always closes at dark. The visitor center will only be open limited hours until May 26. There is a fee for the scenic drives; pay at the visitor center when open or use the Iron Ranger. The winter drive along the river is currently open.
