ST. IGNATIUS – The Lady Bulldogs overcame a shaky start to pick up a lopsided win at home Friday as Mission pounded visiting Eureka 14-4 in five innings.

Eureka came out swinging to take 4-0 lead, yet the Lady Bulldogs proved to be the hotter team at plate, winning by mercy rule in the fifth, 14-4.

Mission-Charlo-Arlee started their 14-0 run with Kinley Pope driving in a run with a pop-up ball to midfield. Janeal McDonald then delivered a homerun to put the Lady Bulldogs within one run heading into the top of the second.

Both teams went scoreless during the second inning as Eureka clung to its one-run lead. Errors plagued the Lady Lions throughout the bottom of the third inning, helping Mission take the lead for the first time. One error allowed Sara Nerby to steal second and eventually make her way across home plate. McDonald stepped up again, driving Pope home with the help of an error. Pitcher Kyla Olson’s triple brought McDonald home, while an additional error resulted in another Mission score. At the top of the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs were in full command, leading 9-4.

Mission would add three additional runs during the fourth. Pope scored first as McDonald drove her in. Olson’s single drove in McDonald, while Camacho drove in Olson to finish the fifth inning. The Lady Bulldogs led the Lady Lions 12-4 heading into the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, Nerby hit a single, and then scored on a double by Pope. McDonald then singled, sending Pope to third. An Olson bunt brought in Pope to bring the lead to ten, ending the game early by mercy rule.

McDonald led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate, going 4-4, while Pope went 3-3 and Olson 3-4.
Heather Burk went 2-3 and Jace Lemer went 1-2 to lead the Lady Lions.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Deer Lodge on Friday for their next game.
