Mission, Valley Christian split, girls down Eureka

ST. IGNATIUS – The Mission netters faced off against Valley Christian at home on Thursday, as the Lady Bulldogs won 4-2, while the Bulldogs fell 4-2.
Mission boys number one, Spencer Ahilborn defeated Josiah Petersen, 6-1, 6-2, as Ahilborn is hitting his stride right before state. Ahilborn was also invited to the Loyola Invitational, where he took down Jonathan Finch of Loyola, 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals, and also Ethan Howard of Hellgate, 6-0, 6-1 to win the singles championship.
The other win for the boys came when Trail Bundy and Karl Daniels defeated Kats Yelsa and Harry Suta, 6-3, 6-1.
In girls' action, Mission number one Sarah Bowers battled it out with Adrienne Newton, picking up the win, 6-7, 4-7, 6-2, 6-2. Mackenzie Trudeau also won her match against Jaime Sofil, 6-2, 6-3, while Morgan Andres took down Hannah Abrams, 6-1, 6-4.
The Lady Bulldogs also hosted Eureka on Friday, where the girls won big, 5-1.
The only loss on Friday was when Eureka number one Angela Bailey, defeated Sarah Bowers, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
Jane Makepeace continues to play well as she picked up another win by defeating Marrissa Jones-Flasset, 6-4, 6-4. Trudeau also won her match as she picked up a solid win against Alika Gillard, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
In doubles, Sydney Allard and Ashley Courville defeated Jessica Tullis and Courtney Lindgren, 6-4, 6-3. Dani Raith and Cierra Dougherty also won their match, beating Bethany Bahlmann and Meagan Duram, 6-3, 6-1.
Makepeace also was invited to the Best of the West competition on Saturday, where she lost to Emma Wooldridge of Superior, 6-3, 6-3.
