KALISPELL — Hunter and bowhunter education instructors received service awards from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks at the annual Region One Instructor Workshop held Saturday at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. A total of 44 instructors received the awards ranging from 5 to 50 years of service.

Local instructors Tom Fieber, Polson, and Trevor Paro, Hot Springs each were awarded five-year hunter education awards; David Conrad, Polson, received the 15-year bowhunter education award.

All instructors are volunteers for FWP. They provide safety, ethics, and firearms and archery equipment handling training to young students across Montana. In Region One (northwest Montana), more than 300 instructors train about 2,000 students each year.
