Editor,
My wife and I have been anxiously waiting for our plums to get ripe, but we came home to a sad sight one day last week. We work on school days as foster grandparents at the Boys and Girls Club, and apparently someone knew our hours and went in our yard and helped themselves to the fruit. They left nothing, and they must have used a ladder to get to even the highest branches.
Anyone who knows us knows we would gladly share our plums, but this was very underhanded. We really don’t know who did it, but they didn’t even leave any plums on the ground. It’s a little upsetting to wait all year for your plums to get ripe and then have someone come in our yard while we’re gone and take all our plums.
It’s discouraging to know that people are so bold they would come onto your property and take something when you’re gone. Next time, please ask.
