BILLINGS – Of 26 Polson, Ronan, Mission-Charlo and Arlee wrestlers who made the trip over to Billings Friday to compete at the 2015 State Tournament, one returned with a State title.
Ronan Chief Cole Snyder (126) pinned Eureka’s Garrett White after 4:52 intense minutes on the championship mat, earning Snyder a State gold.
Snyder’s first place finish helped to launch the Chiefs into sixth place overall with a team score of 72.5. Placing fifth for the Chiefs was freshman Hunter Peterson (113) and in at sixth was Michael Irvine (285) after a 5-2 decision bout with Mission-Charlo’s Ethan Goss Dickie.
Mission placed ninth overall after scoring 61 as a team. Along with Goss Dickie’s fifth place finish the Bulldogs placed three others in the top six including Jamie Mullins (132) who took second after a 5-2 decision against Chinook’s Tate Niederegger. Trent Dennison (152) and Steven Bravo also placed fifth for the Bulldogs.
For the Arlee Warriors it was 170-pound Alex Bertollt who took home the bronze after a third place finish, pinning Chinook’s in Ken Pruttis in 2:59.
Over in Class A, Polson’s Pirates placed sixth with a team score of 82. Pirate Mike Corrigan (205) fared the best for Polson placing fourth while freshmen Mateo Quinones (103) and Cameron Brown (113) each took home fifth place in their weight classes. Tele Seemann was right behind placing sixth.
