Envision Polson

POLSON — Envision Polson has been formed to continue the work and efforts that were started as a result of the Polson Heart and Soul Project. The committees listed below align with the community values that were identified by our citizens throughout this process. These committees will help to assure our community continues its efforts of collaboration and inclusion as we move forward. Involvement in the committees and projects is welcome. Below is an update for February.

• Beautification committee

The Beautification Committee focuses on encouraging, promoting and celebrating seasonal and ongoing beautification in our town and community. The committee is preparing for Polson’s annual Clean-up/Green-up event this Spring. This citywide event includes individual citizens, schools and various organizations and clubs teaming up to get our city and highway corridor spiffed up. Please watch for the date and we hope you will join us. Although the date is not yet set, the next meeting will be in early March.

For more information, contact Mary Jensen at junie_cleaver@msn.com

• Health/well being committee

The goal of the Health and Well Being Committee is to facilitate and strengthen a healthy community through collaborative relationships with community partners.

Four major health related issues that have a significant impact on our community have been identified: Substance abuse, limited access to health care services, limited access to mental health services and a need for an increase in healthy behaviors. Community organizations such as Best Beginnings Children’s Partnership, Lake County’s efforts with the Lake House mental health crisis stabilization center and St. Joseph Medical Center’s efforts to improve access to healthcare services are examples of initiatives that improve the health of the community and will be promoted by the subcommittee.

The next meeting will be Feb. 17 in the Owen conference room at St. Joseph Medical Center from 4-5 p.m.

For more information, contact Brian Wilson at Brian.Wilson@Providence.org or call (406) 883-8443.

The Youth Committee will also be disbursing information on the projects and upgrades occurring to our school facilities, coordinating mentoring programs and promoting community involvement.
