RONAN – This year there are four young ladies vying for Ronan Pioneer Days Trailblazer Queen. These Trailblazers are competing by raising funds for the Ronan Pioneer Days Scholarship and other Pioneer Days’ events by selling Pioneer Days themed buttons to local businesses and towns in Lake County. Each button sells for $1. The young lady who sells the most buttons will receive a $300 scholarship or 15 percent of total sales, whichever is greater.

The winner will be announced and crowned Saturday, Aug 6 during the Kiddie/City Slicker Rodeo at the Ronan Fairgrounds. Trailblazer candidates are:

Alyssa Doty, daughter of Jerry Doty and Shawna Olsen. This upcoming school year she will be a sophomore at Charlo High School. She is active in volleyball, basketball and softball throughout the school year. While away from school Doty enjoys horseback riding, swimming, and staying active in sports. She is still undecided on where she will attend college after high school.

Courtney Taylor, daughter of Jennie Youngren. She will also be a sophomore at Charlo High School this upcoming school year. Taylor is involved with Skills USA, basketball, softball, volleyball, 4-H and band. In her spare time she enjoys reading and playing the piano and flute. After high school, Taylor plans on attending the University of Montana, where she plans to study criminology.

Seri Smith, daughter of Steve and Leslie Smith. Seri will be a senior at Ronan High School this upcoming school year. She plays tennis, and enjoys art and camping in her spare time. Seri is still undecided as to where she will attend college, but is leaning towards Montana State University Bozeman, and is interested in studying to become a Veternarian.

Amber Thingelstad, daughter of Danell and Wendy Thingelstad. She will be entering into her junior year at Ronan High School, where she runs cross country and track. Her hobbies include reading and writing when she’s not working at the Entertainer Cinema in Ronan. After finishing high school, Amber plans to attend the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, where she plans to major in marine biology.
