Foursquare balls, kickballs, footballs and soccer balls at Linderman Elementary School were popping, leaving kids with no bouncing orbs.
Linderman Principal Tim Finkbeiner said the playground balls get trashed with lots of use, but these balls had been purchased in bulk by the school and had been in storage for several years.
Finkbeiner had no ready cash since the new swings on Linderman’s playground had drained all the funds, and things looked bleak. Linderman’s new secretary, Meg Sherry, took one of the balls home to see if her husband could fix it.
Jason couldn’t, but he had another solution.
“I have kids who go to school there, and my wife’s the secretary there. Teachers were complaining (about the) balls,” Jason said.
Jason is the manager at Polson Les Schwab, and the company donated $500 to replenish Linderman’s ball inventory.
Now kids are happily kicking, passing, punting and bouncing all over the playgrounds, thanks to Les Schwab.
