POLSON — Arraignment for James Wilson Allen, 39, was delayed for a second time on Jan. 28, and set for Feb. 4.

Allen is accused of shooting at an off-duty police officer that had to duck and roll in order to avoid being hit by bullets on Jan. 20.

Deputy County Attorney James Lapotka requested that bail in the case be set at $200,000.

Public defender Ashley Morigeau asked for a continuance in the bail setting matter.

“I can tell the court that $200,000 is an amount he absolutely cannot afford,” Morigeau said.

Judge James Manley set bail at $200,000. Manley also set a revocation hearing for Feb. 18 in the case of a five-year suspended sentence handed down in 2013. In that instance Allen was found guilty of criminal endangerment for trying to back over a police officer who had stopped him.
