Editor,
The Big Arm Association has had a couple of busy weeks with a great response from the community, wonderful hospitality from neighbors and continued support from the Trustees of Polson School District No. 23.
On the first day of the month, we held our second very successful Community Breakfast and Yard Sale for the year, with proceeds going towards the restoration work on the historic school in Big Arm. We would like to thank all of the local residents who donated wonderful treasures for the sale, and a big “thank-you” to everyone who attended; we know you went home with great bargains. Very many thanks to the crew who organized everything, especially Joyce and Tim Bruner. A very special “thank-you” to the Big Arm Association gentlemen who once again cooked a superb breakfast. We will definitely hold this popular event again next year, so please save your attic treasures for us. Thank you to all who were involved.
On Oct. 7, a large group of Big Arm residents attended a wonderful tour of the historic Proctor Store and the Pomajevich collection of vintage carriages and wagons. A very big “thank-you” to both Jim and Donna Pomajevich who were very gracious hosts. We certainly learned a lot about local history and gained great insight into life before the automobile.
Also during this time local residents spent several hours cleaning six miles of highway through Big Arm. A very big “thank-you” to the 22 "Big Armians," and thank you to all who are involved in keeping this beautiful area we live in clean.
On Monday, Oct. 10, the Big Arm Association presented a building plan to the Polson School Board for approval. This next phase in the restoration work of the Big Arm Historic School will be to construct a building to house bathrooms and a kitchen. We send our thanks to the Board of Trustees for unanimously supporting our plans and our work. This building, when completed, will enable the historic school to become a fully functioning community center and local museum. If you would like to help either by donating time, materials or funds please contact us at 849-6628.
Thank you to all who are involved.
