ST. IGNATIUS — After a tough week against Bigfork and Loyola, the MIssion Lady Bulldogs pulled off a Sept. 27 win at home against Plains, 26-24, 25-23, 11-25, 25-19, but couldn’t keep up their momentum when they traveled to Florence Thursday.

Loren Erickson led Mission to the win over Plains, leading in assists with 16, digs with 18 and blocks with two.

“So she had a really good game,” coach Kendal Anderson noted.

Anderson saw improvement from her back row, which did a better job getting the ball up to the net, but the front row just wasn’t connecting, she explained.

“We had a lot of attack attempts but few kills,” Anderson said.

Teammate Sarah Bowers had two aces, followed by Erickson, Ashley Courville and Sara Nerby with one each. Bowers also added 16 assists.

Jennifer Larsson led the Lady Bulldogs in kills with 15, followed by Erickson with 12 and Nerby with eight.

Sydney Allard had 16 kills; Courville had 15; Lyssia McDonald added 14; and Stephanie Lewandowski 13. Nerby also added one block.

At Florence, try as they might, the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t avoid the same fate as everyone else who’s faced the Falcons this year, and fell to the undefeated District 6-B leaders 25-12, 25-10, 25-19.

Erickson once again stepped up for Mission, turning in seven assists and an ace.

Although the Lady Bulldogs managed 13 kills, with Nerby contributing four, their numbers were no match for Florence’s 25 kills. The Falcons also had 10 blocks, 52 digs, 25 assists and 19 aces.

Mission couldn’t get a block, and had 26 digs (Lewandowski with seven) and 12 assists (Erickson with seven). Erickson, Nerby and Lewandowski each had an ace to make the team total three.

The Lady Bulldogs were at Arlee Tuesday and will host Thompson Falls Thursday.
