POLSON — Weeks of play practice and memorizing song lyrics and lines paid off as students danced and sang on Dec. 13 and 14 at Polson High School.

Second graders from Linderman School took the stage with their holiday production of “Christmas at the O.K. Corral.” All the animals — lambs, cows, horses, pigs and ducks — at the O.K. Corral are excited for Christmas. Then the Bubble Gum Gang threatens to cover the farmyard with sticky bubble gum goo if Christmas plans continue because the celebration gets too noisy.

Brainstorming for a solution, the animals, cowboys, cowgirls and sheriffs contact Santa. Santa and his reindeer call in the Candy Cane kids. The Candy Cane kids learn one reason the Bubble Gum Gang members are so ornery is because they have no friends. They become friends, and everyone celebrates together.

Songs, such as “Let’s Do the Twist” and ”Heard It Through the Grapevine,” were fun for the audience as well as the kids.

Costumes featuring hats, boots, vests, big stars, and animal suits, were “fun,” according to a couple of young actors. They were tired of practicing over and over, but a bus ride to PHS and applause might have turned them into junior thespians.

“Christmas at the O.K. Corral” included most of the 111 students from Mrs Calhoun, Mrs. Delaney, Mrs. Laud, Mrs. Nordberg, Mrs Seifert and Ms. Wilson’s rooms.
