DIXON — Winter seems here for sure nowadays: busy bird feeder, frozen snow increasing with new flakes nightly, noticing the snow plows and gravel trucks when I venture onto the roads, and being thankful for the warmth and supplies of necessities in my home (plus the endless entertainment/education on the Internet).
Take a social break to come share a meal at the Dixon Senior Center. We are small, but appreciative of the good food and nice people who join us.
Meals are served at 5 p.m. on Mondays and at noon on Thursdays. Every age is welcome and we provide take-outs.
The menu for December will be:
• Thursday, Dec. 11: potato soup, coleslaw
• Monday, Dec.15: chili, corn bread
• Thursday, Dec. 18: special Christmas dinner
• Monday, Dec. 22: roast beef
• Monday, Dec. 29: chicken potpie
Meals are only $4 and include fruit/veggies, often times homemade bread and desserts.
There will be no senior dinner on Christmas, Dec. 25.
We are pleased to welcome as our newest members Carl and Norma Sirucek from St. Ignatius. The week before we hosted 10 honor roll students and Principal Kelley Moore, who walked over for Thanksgiving dinner at the center. The boys and girls are always so well-mannered and appreciate getting to “eat out” away from school. Harley and Joey Hettick recently returned without incident from visiting her daughter in Texas. A highpoint for them was getting to see the LBJ-Texas Whitehouse.
