The Polson boys’ soccer team had a long drive to Livingston last weekend for the opening round of the State A soccer tournament. The only goal of the game came from Polson’s James Larson during the 18-minute mark. When Jon Murphy sent a long ball over the Livingston defense, allowing Larson to head the ball up, Larson ran onto the ball and chipped it in for the score.

The game was a battle from the start, as Park tried everything they had to get past the Polson defense.

“Park threw everything but the kitchen sink at us, and our defense denied every attempt,” head coach Jess Kittle said. “There were a lot of hard hits and rough challenges for the ball.”

According to Kittle, he was pleased with keeper Peregrine Frissell, Nick Howell, Caden von Wildenradt, Jon Murphy, Jacob Raymond and Spencer Raymond all played great defense.

With the win, Polson’s record is now 8-3-2 overall, and 6-2-0 in conference. The Pirates will be tested this week as they play on the road in Hamilton this Saturday, Oct. 22 for the A State semi-finals.

At Hamilton, the Polson Lady Pirate soccer team’s season ended with a 4-0 loss to the Lady Broncs on Saturday.

With the loss, the Polson girls finish their season at 5-8-0. The Lady Broncs opened up a 3-0 lead in the first half, and added another score at the 58-minute mark to end all scoring.
