RONAN – A Ronan woman is in jail this weekend, after leading authorities on a high-speed chase Friday afternoon.
According to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Delicia Fayef Blackweasel, 21, was charged with resisting arrest, felony theft of an automobile, and felony endangerment, in addition to numerous additional traffic offenses.
According to the press release, a Chevy Impala was reported stolen from the Pablo area just before 1 p.m. Nov. 14. At around 2 p.m., family members located the car northeast of Pablo and began to follow it. A sheriff’s deputy caught up to the Impala and attempted to stop the driver, Blackweasel. The driver led the deputy on a pursuit into Ronan and headed westbound on Round Butte Road. At one point the Impala left the roadway, but Blackweasel was able to regain control of the vehicle and head back eastbound toward Ronan.
The pursuit ended at the Ronan Middle School Gym parking lot when the driver pulled into the parking lot and stopped the vehicle. Following a brief struggle in which the driver was tased, the driver was taken into custody.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office would like to request anyone who may have been involved in the pursuit or may have been run off the road by the driver to contact the Sheriff’s Office to make a statement. The Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind citizens not to allow their vehicles to run unattended, even for short periods.
