CHARLO — Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. at Connie’s Countryside Cafe on Monday night.
According to owner Connie Stevens, a woman entered the cafe’s back door just before closing time on Monday night, pressed a gun to one employee’s back and walked the woman into a closet. The robber also put the gun’s barrel on the forehead of another employee, directly between the eyes, and put that victim in the closet.
The robber was wearing a ski mask, trench coat, green household gloves, all black clothing, and was disguising her voice.
Stevens said the woman who committed the crime is described as being between 5’7” and 5’9” tall, with brown eyes.
The perpetrator made-off with $200 in a change bag, but was unable to access the till, Stevens said.
Flathead Tribal Police and Lake County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crime.
Stevens, who has owned the cafe for almost 20 years, said she will be installing a security system. She also intends to close at 7 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.
“I think it is safer for my employees,” Stevens said. “It’s not as dark.”
