RONAN — Holiday shopping in Ronan offers a chance at big prizes.
The Ronan Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Treasures program kicked off Nov. 7 and will run through Dec. 19, when drawings will be held for a number of prizes after the Parade of Lights.
“We call it the Chamber’s way of thanking the public for shopping locally,” organizer Robin Nelson said.
Under the program, shoppers receive tickets for every $2 they spend at local businesses. People then are able to register for a number that they stick on the back of their ticket. Tickets must be labeled with a registered number in order to win one of several prize packages available.
Shoppers can drop their tickets off at Bishop Insurance, Arnie’s Gas and Tire, Hanson and Granley True Value, and Ace Hardware. A crew will pick the tickets up and put them into a spinning hopper for the prize drawing.
The packages are put together from a combination of merchandise donated by businesses and purchased by the Chamber of Commerce. Each prize package is worth approximately $800-$1,000. Past prize packages have included washers and dryers, tires, stereos, gift certificates for groceries and other large-ticket items.
“The whole Chamber contributes,” Nelson said.
Nelson said winners must be over 18 years of age and must be present at the time of the drawing. A person cannot win more than one package.
