POLSON — Polson High School music students Sierra Garcia, Olivia Hewston and Austin Martinez qualified for the Montana High School Association’s All State Band and Choir Festival.
Nearly 1,000 students from around the state attended the event in Missoula at the University of Montana and Hellgate High School from Oct. 15-17.
Martinez, a senior, plays the bass clarinet and has attended the All State Festival for three years. Garcia plays the trombone, and Hewston is in choir.
The students sent in audition tapes to earn a place as one of Montana’s best student musicians or singers.
Parcipants began the festival with auditions, sectionals and rehearsals on the evening of Oct. 15 and then attended a motivational session by Dr. Timothy Lautzenheiser.
Following two days of rehearsals, students presented a combined band, choir and orchestra concert at the U of M’s Dennison Theater on Oct. 17.
