POLSON – The Lady Pirates split their final week finishing their season at 7-4-1 and snagging a second in conference seed going into postseason next week.
In their last game played on their home field Thursday, the Lady Pirates fell to Columbia Falls 0-1 in a tightly wound game.
Though one snuck in while keeper Jenna Evertz guarded the net, Evertz worked it out to block four more.
Saturday the Lady Pirates took down the Lady Loggers in Libby 3-0 for their last regular season game.
Brenna Clark, Janessa Taylor and Tiara Duford all put one in the net to score for the Lady Pirates. In her very first varsity game at goalkeeper, Camas Renault picked up two saves after relieving Evertz part way through the game.
“The soccer we played in the first half was responsive to what Libby was playing,” Coach Michael Hewston said. “The girls refocused on their game at halftime and I would say our play was much improved in the second half.”
The Lady Pirates will head in to postseason play Oct. 18 playing the winner of the Laurel-Belgrade play-in game, atraveling to the opponent’s field.
