POLSON – The Pirates ended their 1-8-3 season on Saturday with a final blow from Libby but not without going out with a bang and picking up their first win of the season on Thursday in front of their hometown fans.
At home Thursday, the Pirates blew past the Wildcats, gaining big cheers from the stands as they took down Columbia Falls 7-1.
Mike Mercer, Jonah Kasnitz and Andrew Hanson each scored two goals apiece with Morgan Moll knocking one in the net in the final moments of the contest. Alex Helgeson picked up a trio of assists.
Trevor Basler snagged four saves.
In Libby on Saturday, the Pirates fell in their final game of the season with the Loggers delivering the Pirates the 0-4 loss.
Polson’s keeper Russ Smith saved six from scoring for the Pirates.
Though the Pirates will be saying good-bye to six seniors, next year’s roster promises the return of many players coming off of the bench that have gained varsity level experience. Fresh faces will join these returning players to round out the new roster.
