Delaney leads valley runners at Thompson Falls Invite

THOMPSON FALLS – At Thompson Falls Thursday, cross-country teams from Charlo, Arlee, Ronan and Mission met up to race three miles under the warm autumn sun.
Though Charlo did not qualify as a team, lacking enough athletes, Viking Dalton Delaney posted a time of 16:58 good for a fourth place finish. Mission’s Tate Weingart was next to cross the finish line in the 20th spot with a time of 18:01 followed by a Chief partner finish with Daniel Koehler in at 22nd (18:03) and at 23rd Jackson Duffey (18:06).
Ronan, with the only team to qualify for a team score, finished with a score of 182 to put them in seventh.
The Maidens led the valley with Tashyna Matt faring the best at 20th with a time of 22:25. Penny Weyant finished with a time of 23:04 good for 29th and Charlo’s Aislynn Love grabbed the 30 spot posting a 23:04 finish time.
Overall the Maidens placed fifth as a team with a team score of 189.
All four teams will head to Whitefish Oct. 11.
