POLSON — The Travis Dolphin Dog Park on 7th Avenue West in Polson will be temporarily closed for an herbicide application. The hvis Dolphin Dog Park on 7th Avenue West in Polson will be temporarily closed for an herbicide application. The herbicide to be used is Chaparral™ a Dow AgroSciences product containing the active ingredients aminopyralid and metsulfuron. The application will occur for one day between Oct. 6 and 9. The Park will be closed during, and for 24 hours after, the application. Patrons are encouraged to use the ballpark on 11th Avenue during this closure.
The Lake County Weed District will be performing the application in cooperation with the City of Polson, Polson Parks Department, and Lake County MSU Extension. All-terrain vehicles equipped with sprayers will apply the herbicide on areas affected by weeds except for areas within 20 feet of the river, which will be manually treated by hand-pulling weeds. Noxious weeds are a serious threat to public spaces and their management is required by law. The area in question contains Spotted Knapweed and Whitetop as well as other nuisance weeds.
If you have any questions please contact Karen Sargeant of the Polson Parks Department at (406) 249-5123, or Kelsey Miller of the Lake County Weed District (406) 250-8722.
