Mission overcomes bitter cold, downs Plains

PLAINS – During a cold dreary Friday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs prevailed against the Trotters in a Western B-C battle at Plains, winning 4-3. The Trotters gave MAC trouble during their season-opener, where the team also won at the last minute, 4-3. With the win, the team improved to 8-2, looking good, as they will have a big upcoming week.
Kyla Olson struck out nine batters, and walked one batter, as she improved to 8-2 in the circle.
Both teams went scoreless throughout the first four innings, before MAC took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning. A pair of runs in the top of the sixth gave the Lady Bulldogs a temporary 3-0 margin. In the bottom of the sixth, Alex Green smacked a two-run home run to bring her team within one.
Both teams scored in the seventh inning on passed balls at the plate, as MAC was able to hold on for the win.
Kinley Pope and Serena Long both finished the game with one RBI each, with Loren Erickson and Siraha Camacho both going 1-4.
Plain’s Felicia Earhart had a good day at bat, going 3-3, while Tia Thompson, Shannel Peterson and Green went 1-3.
The Lady Bulldogs will host a doubleheader against Troy on Friday, and travel to Drummond on Saturday.
