POLSON – The Polson Lady Pirate volleyball team (4-1) hosted Libby and Thompson Falls at home this week, beating Libby 3-0, and clawing their way back into a victory against Thompson Falls, winning 3-2 in a five-match thriller.
Thompson Falls jumped out to a two game lead, winning 25-17, 25-15 during the early moments of the match. Polson rallied late to down the Bluehawks 25-21, 25-18, and 15-11 to pick up the win.
Shalaina Duford led the Lady Pirates on offense, as she finished with 42 of Polson’s 44 assists. Teammate Mackenzie Banner added 18 digs, while Heidi Rausch and Kenzi Clay put up a pair of blocks.
On Saturday, the Lady Pirates played Libby at home, where Ashley Johnson and Riley Kenney led the Lady Pirates with nine kills each, while Johnson contributed 11 digs, and Kenney added two aces.
Rausch slammed three blocks, while Duford set up 28 assists.
For Libby, Selinna Maefau had seven kills, two blocks and three aces for the Bluehawks.
Polson travels to Missoula on Thursday, Sept. 29 to take on Loyola.
