MISSOULA – The Chiefs kept the score tight in the season’s opener played in Missoula at the Grizzly Stadium Saturday, but in the end couldn’t hold the lead against New Plymouth’s Pilgrims falling 26-30 to the Idaho team.
Senior Colton McCrea, on his 18th birthday, led the Chiefs in receiving yards with 112, 82 in the second quarter on a kick return adding another 62 for score in the third. Cole Snyder successfully snagged nine balls taking it 102 yards and QB Justin Krahn completed 25 out of 39 for 326 yards and three touchdowns.
The Chiefs will head to Eureka to take on the Lincoln County Lions Sept. 5.
