EUREKA — The Bulldogs ran in to familiar problems in Eureka Friday; a slow start and turnovers.
In a 41-0 loss to the Lions, the Bulldogs were outscored 35-0 in the first half and committed five turnovers. In Mission’s six losses to start the season they’ve been outscored 158-6 and turnovers have now plagued them for two years.
Mission coach Peter Hamilton said that they were able to move the ball against the Lions, but turnovers or penalties stalled any drive.
Justin Evans, finished with 94 yards on 17 carries. Jake Durglo caught two passes for 26 yards. Jorren Gies threw both passes to Durglo, completing two of the eight passes he threw.
The Bulldogs (0-6) host the Savage Horsemen Friday. Plains-Hot Springs is tied with Eureka for the conference lead.
“We’re going to work on the basics and doing our jobs,” Hamilton said.
He said in the lopsided loss to the Lions, players tried to other players jobs, instead of just focusing on what they were suppose to do. He said this undisciplined style of play put the players out of position, something that good teams can always expose.
