Editor,

There is a healing power in Mission Valley. I’m referring to Dr. Katie Carter, N.D., Naturopathic Physician. Her Mission Healing Arts office is right here in my hometown, Polson, across from the courthouse. Also, for her patients’ convenience, she has a satellite in Whitefish and Missoula. She’s been practicing for 30 years and has experience treating every kind of issue.

My personal story with Dr. Carter is probably typical of the many who have discovered the scope and healing-to-wholeness dynamics of naturopathic medicine.

The first discovery that I had mild macular degeneration was 14 years ago. Three years ago it started progressing fast. At this same time, Dr. Carter discovered a very successful macular degeneration treatment program from an ophthalmologist in Florida. We started on the basics of that program immediately. After three years, even though starting treatments late and I was already nearing 80, the progression of this disease has been slowed down dramatically.

But that’s not all.

My eye treatments with Dr. Carter do not just help with my eye problems. These treatments, as I understand it, really get to the core values and purpose of Naturopathic Medicine, also referred to as alternative medicine or integrative medicine.

What started as a focus on my eyes is really treating my entire body in ways beyond just the eyes. The body is whole and interactive. So, working with the dynamics of integrative medicine is actually helping the body to heal itself naturally.

Dr. Carter has been running an excellent ad in the Valley Journal. Look for it. Cut it out, save it and pass this good news on to others.

Right now, in our tumultuous environment, what can be more important to each of us, our families and our friends, than healing to wholeness in mind, body and spirit?
