LAKE COUNTY — Bonneville Power Administration has scheduled an outage that will begin Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 p.m. and end at or before 7 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18. BPA has asked Mission Valley Power for the outage so that they can replace their poles and wires that connect the Bonneville Power substation to the MVP Substation. This upgrade will allow for increased flows of electricity between these facilities and replace worn and outdated poles and wire. MVP personnel will be assisting BPA to ensure the project goes as quickly and smoothly as possible.

MVP purchases 80 percent of its electricity from BPA. So due to BPA’s power transmission setup the outage will impact a large part of our service area. Areas affected will be as follows: Polson, West Shore, Finley Point, Ronan, Pablo, Irvine Flats, Hot Springs, Camas Prairie and points in between. MVP customers who are dependent on continuous power for life support or other health reasons are encouraged to plan ahead for this outage.

MVP plans to contact as many customers as possible, especially those on home life support systems and our businesses that are normally open during the outage hours. Don’t hesitate to call our office with any questions or concerns: 406-883-7900.

This outage is in no way a result of the Tribes purchasing the Dam. BPA requested the outage a few months ago, however MVP declined because there would have been major impacts to the many summer events occurring in the outage areas.
